Seal watching at Black Rock – 28cm x 28cm

A jade green sea on a calm day.  The soft green dominates the painting and sets an atmosphere of peace.  Seals bobble and hang in the water; looking around, seemingly unafraid and unconcerned.   Their semi-submerged shapes echo the rounded rocks.  The middle ground of the painting is dominated by a small boat nodding in the water in close proximity to a cluster of black rocks.  A party of seal watchers has arrived in a little launch but it’s not clear who is watching whom?
