Scottish Designer Kirsty Dalton is owner and creator of Primitive Woodland Line. Each piece is individually handcrafted from various cuts of natural wood, shaped and then burnt freehand using a process called pyrography. This approach complements the form and unique characteristics of this beautiful medium. The wood is sourced locally in Scotland and the artist primarily uses sycamore; its natural light and blond appearance accentuate the burnt-in detail.
Utilising traditional methods of woodturning and hand carving, Dalton’s approach is purely instinctive; inspired by nature, with a focus on bold shapes merged with intricate detail, aiming to capture the essence of prehistoric art combined with more contemporary ornamentation.
